Tips and Tricks for Quizizz (WayGround) Educators

This engaging and practical workshop is designed to help educators make the most of powerful educational apps and websites to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. Participants will explore a curated selection of tried-and-tested digital tools, all of which have been widely praised by teachers across the globe for their effectiveness and versatility.

Rather than relying on apps to function in isolation, this workshop will highlight the essential role of the teacher in guiding the use of these tools to ensure meaningful, targeted, and impactful outcomes. With the right approach, these technologies can be seamlessly integrated into lesson plans to support a variety of educational goals.

During the session, we will take a hands-on approach to designing lessons that incorporate digital tools effectively—not just during the school day, but also for setting homework and preparing students for assessments. One of the key platforms we will use throughout the workshop is Quizizz, a dynamic and highly interactive platform that allows teachers to create quizzes, polls, and games to reinforce learning in an engaging way. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience Quizizz firsthand, and learn how to use it for formative assessment, student revision, and classroom competitions.

By the end of the workshop, teachers will feel confident in selecting, adapting, and using educational apps to suit the unique needs of their students, creating a more interactive and student-centred learning environment.

Kevin Baloyi holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He was one of the co-producers of the EdTech Summit Africa conferences. He is currently working at Redhill, an international School in Johannesburg, where he is responsible for supporting teachers with technology integration and teaching his own classes (EdTech and Design). Previously, Kevin worked at King David Victory Park Primary for 4 years. He was an intern teacher at Mitchell House, Polokwane, teaching English and IT. He joined the GTI Future Leaders Program in 2015 and was an intern teacher at LEAP Science and Maths School. Kevin was part of a select group of teachers-in-training who traveled to the U.S. in 2016 as a part of the Global Teachers Institute and Teach With Africa exchange program, studying schools and programs in California. Kevin is passionate about Education and Technology and has taught himself many technology strategies he incorporates into his teaching.
