Multiplicative Reasoning Reimagined

Jacolene Venter

Multiplicative Reasoning remains one of the main stumbling blocks in Mathematics. It impacts the understanding of fractions, ratio and proportion with far reaching consequences in terms of abstract reasoning. During this workshop we will explore an approach that is experiential in nature with its roots in Brunner's theories on concept development while integrating the latest research in Neuroscience to both guide and evaluate the individual child's developmental level. An assessment tool as well as classroom resources will be shared and discussed.
