Experiencing the Child with Learning Difficulties
Angela Charalambous
This interactive workshop invites teachers, specialists and parents to shift perspective and “walk in the shoes” of a child with learning difficulties. In this condensed session, participants will actively engage in tasks that simulate common challenges faced by learners with dyslexia, auditory and visual processing difficulties, dysgraphia etc.
The workshop’s methodology is experiential: rather than discussing learning barriers from a theoretical standpoint, participants will engage in activities designed to create the emotional and cognitive frustration and anxiety that a struggling learner may feel. Through a sequence of carefully structured simulations, debriefs, reflection and discussion, attendees will develop a deeper empathetic understanding of how these difficulties impact classroom performance, self-esteem, and behaviour.
